oh messi, what to say. the greatest to ever touch the game. a revolutionary player who widened the eyes of all viewers and players who have any inclination towards the sport of football. you showed us new levels which seem impossible to even dream about- let alone to perform. you have completed all their is to complete for your country, you retire today as a national icon and legend- both in your country and in the world. the honour and pride which you have given your country is nothing short of a miracle. myself, who is nothing close to an argentine, celebrated you- and your country’s- most monumental achievements, as your presence always invited the most attention and admiration. you united multitudes of people with different cultures and nationalities to celebrate and share in the beauty of football, because it was your beautiful football that inspired all to learn and engage with the sport while this isn’t the end of your football journey,- thank god- today marks as another reminder of how influential and valuable you are- not just to your country, but the whole footballing world. millions tuned in to honour you on your last international game, and we will gather once more when the unfortunate and devastating day of retirement fallls upon us. thank you for showing us utter greatness and resilience.
